A Sample Annotated Paragraph


To give you a flavor of the annotations, here is a portion of an annotated text paragraph with citations:

"Amberson (1986, 1991) found that teachers became confused about how the material is to be presented. Smith (1988*) thought that, while school organization was important, individual teachers could make a difference. Barker &* Swenson (1989*) noted ... (paragraph continues)"

Since you don't have the original, here's what happened:  the Amberson citations are correct and need no action. A check of the reference list showed that the Smith reference is missing, and that the Barker and Swenson citation has the wrong date. Also, the & needs to be replaced with 'and'.
